Abstract

Learning the area of flat shapes in elementary school is often challenging due to abstract explanations and limited contextualization in teaching materials. This study aimed to develop an ethnomathematics-based student worksheet (LKPD) grounded in the geometric elements of traditional Osing houses to strengthen students’ understanding of flat shape area concepts. The study employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model. The LKPD was designed by integrating cultural architectural features of Osing houses into learning activities and was validated by subject matter experts, learning media experts, and cultural experts. Practicality testing was conducted with a fifth-grade teacher and students through a limited trial. The results indicate that the developed LKPD is valid, practical, and culturally relevant. The integration of Osing house ethnomathematics supports meaningful and contextual mathematics learning while fostering students’ cultural awareness in elementary geometry education. These findings suggest that ethnomathematics-based LKPD can serve as an effective and culturally responsive learning resource for elementary geometry instruction.
